You do not have to be an avid runner to participate in an awesome memorial race starting and ending at Maggs Physical Activities Center at Salisbury University on the weekend of March 1st. But if you are a runner, walker, pet owner or just a lover of the outdoors, this will be a fantastic event you don’t want to miss. It’s good, clean fun raising money for Coastal Hospice to aid in the help of pediatric cases and programs for grieving children who have lost a sibling or a parent to cancer. The Salisbury Horizons Student Enrichment Program, which provides support education and hope to children from economically disadvantaged families and our four-legged friends in need will also be beneficiaries of the proceeds. The 6th Annual Tim Kennard 10-Mile River Run along with the 5k Run/Walk will be held on Sunday, March 1st.

Kennard was a courageous, warm-hearted friend, father, son and brother whose dreams inspired others. He was fighting cancer when his friends Linda Mills and Harlan Eagle approached him with the concept of the Tim Kennard River Run/Walk. He loved the idea and he said it should be the best run Salisbury could host and the proceeds should benefit kids. He died after the first event, in 2004. Now the race is in its sixth year and the supercharged friends, along with hundreds of others, with their infectious determination and boundless energy, continue to carry Kennard’s torch.
